Welcome, your account and first steps

Everything about your cars, in your pocket. Carlore keeps the spec sheet, the papers, every service with its receipt, and a clean handover when it's time to sell.

Your account is how Carlore knows it's you: your email, how you sign in and your plan. Your vehicles, papers and receipts aren't in your account. They live in your garage, on this phone and in your own iCloud Drive or Google Drive, encrypted before they leave. Carlore never sees your VINs, papers or receipts.

Create your account

On the welcome screen, tap Create account, then choose one way to sign up:

• Sign in with Apple (iPhone only). Apple may offer to hide your email. If you choose that, our emails reach you through Apple's relay.
• Continue with Google.
• Email and password. Your password needs at least 12 characters.

Whichever you choose, check the box that says "I'm 18 or older and I agree to the Terms and the Privacy Policy." Tap Terms or Privacy Policy to read the exact versions you're agreeing to.

Carlore is for adults, 18 and older. Where the law asks app stores to share age information, Carlore also checks what your app store says. If it says you're under 18, you'll see "Carlore is for adults" and no account is created.

Verify your email

With email and password, we send a 6-digit code to the address you gave. Type it in and tap Verify, or tap the link in the email to open Carlore with the code filled in.

• No email yet? Check your spam folder, then tap Resend code.
• Spotted a typo in the address? Tap Use a different email.

Sign in

Tap I already have an account, then sign in the way you signed up. If your email is verified, Continue with Google or Sign in with Apple with that same email connects to your existing account.

On Android, there's no Sign in with Apple. If you created your account with Apple on another phone, set a password there first in Settings, then Account. Then sign in here with your email and that password.

If you see "Couldn't reach Carlore. Try again in a moment.", check your connection and try again. Your garage is safe on this phone.

Forgot your password

1. On the sign-in screen, tap Forgot your password?
2. Enter your email and tap Send reset link. The message is the same whether or not an account exists, so nobody can use the screen to find out who has one.
3. Open the email on your phone and tap the link. Carlore opens the reset screen.
4. Enter your new password and confirm it.

The link works once. A new password signs you out on every device, so sign in again with it. If you open the link on a computer, a page on carlore.app lets you set the password there.

Your first few minutes

The first time you sign in, Carlore walks you through six short steps. Skip any of them and come back later.

1. Add your first vehicle. Tap Scan the VIN and point the camera at the door jamb or the windshield. Carlore fills in the year, make, model and engine from NHTSA, asked straight from your phone. Or tap Type it instead.
2. Find the manual. Tap Look for manuals and Carlore looks on the manufacturer's site. Only the year, make and model are sent, never the VIN. Not now is just as good a choice. See Manuals.
3. Reminders. One nudge when a paper is about to expire or a service comes due by date or mileage. Nothing else.
4. Backup. Your garage is encrypted on this phone before it's backed up. On iPhone, tap Use iCloud Drive (recommended) or choose Google Drive. On Android, tap Use Google Drive. Or tap Later.
5. Diagnostics. After an unexpected close, Carlore offers to send a report, and nothing is sent unless you tap Send. Choose Share diagnostics or Don't share.
6. Usage statistics. Counts of screens and features, never your vehicles, papers or receipts. Choose Share counts or Don't share.
