Notifications and widgets

When Carlore sends a reminder and what it says, how to change reminders, and the widgets and shortcuts that put your garage a tap away.

Carlore would rather send one useful nudge than ten noisy ones. Notifications are off until you turn them on, and Carlore never sends marketing.

What Carlore reminds you about

  • Papers about to expire: "Registration for the Civic expires on Nov 14 · in 30 days."
  • Services coming due by date or mileage: "The Outback is due for an oil change in about 400 miles."
  • Warranties nearing their end.
  • Recalls, only after a check you scheduled: "A recall was published for the Outback. Read it in Recalls."

Each item gets one reminder at the lead time you set, and one more a week or 100 miles before. Never more. Carlore never sends a notification about manuals.

Change your reminders

Open Settings, then Notifications to turn reminders for papers and for service on or off. To change how early you hear about one item, open the task, paper or warranty and change its Reminder.

Reminders are scheduled on your phone, from your garage. No server sends them, so they work without a connection and nobody else knows your dates. Quiet hours on your phone are respected.

Allow notifications on your phone

Carlore asks when you tap Turn on reminders. If you tapped Not now, turn them on in your phone's settings:

On iPhone, open the Settings app, tap Notifications, then Carlore, and turn on Allow Notifications.

On Android, open Settings, tap Apps, then Carlore, then Notifications, and turn them on. A reminder can arrive a few minutes after its time, because Android groups alarms to save battery.

Without notifications, the Due tab and widgets still show what's due.

Widgets

Widgets are part of Plus.

  • Next due, small: what comes next for one vehicle.
  • Garage, medium: every vehicle with its status line.
  • Glovebox, on the Lock Screen (iPhone only): opens the roadside card in one tap, even with app lock on.

On iPhone:

  1. Touch and hold an empty spot on your Home Screen until the apps jiggle.
  2. Tap Edit, then Add Widget.
  3. Search for Carlore and choose Next due or Garage.
  4. For the Glovebox, touch and hold your Lock Screen, tap Customize, then Lock Screen, and add Carlore's Glovebox widget.

On Android:

  1. Touch and hold an empty spot on your home screen.
  2. Tap Widgets and find Carlore.
  3. Touch and hold Next due or Garage, then drag it where you'd like it.

Shortcuts

Shortcuts open Carlore straight to the thing you need: Glovebox, Log service and Update mileage.

On iPhone, find them in Spotlight, ask Siri, or add them in the Shortcuts app. On iPhones with an Action button, you can assign one there.

On Android, touch and hold the Carlore icon and choose a shortcut. Drag it onto your home screen to keep it there. With no lock-screen widget on Android, the Glovebox shortcut and the Glovebox action on a Carlore notification are the quickest way to your roadside card.
