Household sharing

Two drivers, one set of cars? Household sharing lets one other person in your home see and add to your garage: log an oil change, check when the registration expires, open the Glovebox.

How it works

Carlore writes an encrypted household file to a shared folder you choose in your own cloud. The person you share with opens it in their own Carlore with a passphrase you give them in person. Changes either of you make are merged on each phone.

Carlore's servers never hold your garage or the household file, so they can't see what you share.

What's shared

• Everything marked Household or Transferable: vehicles, specs, service entries, paper images, Glovebox fields.
• Costs, notes and the numbers on your papers, only if you choose to include them. They're Owner only by default.
• Anything else marked Owner only stays with you.

Set it up

1. Open Settings, then Household.
2. Choose the shared folder in your iCloud Drive or Google Drive, and share that folder with the other person from your cloud.
3. Choose a household passphrase, and whether to include costs and notes.
4. Tell the other person the passphrase in person, not by message.
5. On their phone, they open Settings, then Household, choose the shared folder and enter the passphrase.

On iPhone, if the other person uses a phone that isn't an iPhone, use Google Drive for the shared folder.

Once it's set up, Settings shows who you share with, like "Share your garage with Sam".

One person

Household sharing is for one other person. Each of you keeps your own Carlore account.

Stop sharing

Open Settings, then Household, and stop sharing. New changes stop reaching the other person. What's already on their phone stays there until they remove it.
