Manuals

Carlore looks for your vehicle's manuals on the manufacturer's site, you confirm the right one, and it's kept as your own copy in your garage.

Your owner's manual has the answers: the oil grade, what that light means, how to reset the tire pressure warning. Carlore can find it for you and keep it with the vehicle.

What Carlore looks for

After you add a vehicle, if you said yes to Look for manuals when you set up Carlore, it looks for:

  • the owner's manual,
  • the maintenance or warranty booklet,
  • the quick reference guide.

It looks on the manufacturer's public owner site first. If that doesn't find it, it tries a web search limited to the manufacturer's own sites and a few well-known archives, and labels anything found that way "From the web".

Only the year, make and model are sent, never the VIN. Nothing goes through Carlore's servers, and Carlore doesn't host or keep any manual itself. Carlore never sends a notification about manuals.

While it looks, you'll see "Looking for your manual online. Only the year, make and model are sent."

Confirm or discard

Open the vehicle and tap Manuals. Finds wait under Confirm these. Each one shows the title, the model years, the page count and where it came from, like "Found on toyota.com · 2019 Outback · Owner's manual · 612 pages".

  • Tap This is my manual to keep it. Carlore downloads it into your garage and you'll see "Kept for the Outback." When a publisher only offers it to read online, Carlore keeps the link instead.
  • Tap Not mine to discard it. It's deleted at once, and nothing about it is kept.

Nothing is kept until you confirm it.

Your manuals

Confirmed manuals sit under Your manuals, with a kind: Owner's manual, Maintenance booklet, Quick reference or Accessory. Tap one to read it, share a copy, or remove it.

A confirmed manual is your personal copy, kept in your own garage, on this phone and in your own iCloud Drive or Google Drive. It reads offline. Manuals are Transferable by default, so a handover package carries them to the next owner.

Add your own

Have the manual as a PDF, or the printed one in the glovebox? Tap Add your own and choose a PDF or photos.

Look again

If nothing turns up, you'll see "No manual found yet. Add your own, or look again with the exact model year." Tap Look again to search once more, and correct the model year or trim if it helps.

If the manufacturer's site can't be reached, Carlore says so. Your vehicle and everything in it stay as they are. Tap Look again later.

Turn lookup off

Open Settings, then Privacy & security, and turn off manual lookup. Carlore then shows "Manual lookup is off. Turn it on in Settings › Privacy & security, or add your own." Manuals you already confirmed stay.
