The short version

We want everyone to be able to look after their vehicles with Carlore. The apps follow your phone's accessibility settings, and the website is built to work with a keyboard and screen readers. We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 at level AA. We haven't finished checking everything yet, and if something gets in your way, we want to hear about it.

1. Our commitment

We design and build Carlore to be usable by as many people as possible, including people who use screen readers, larger text, switch control, voice control or reduced motion. In the apps, we follow Apple's and Google's accessibility guidelines. On carlore.app, our goal is to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, and we use the same guidelines as our measure for the apps.

Carlore hasn't had an independent accessibility audit, so we don't claim that it fully conforms to WCAG 2.2 AA. Section 4 explains what we've checked and what we're still working on.

2. What the apps are designed to support

  • Larger text. The apps follow Dynamic Type on iPhone and font size and display size on Android. Vehicle cards grow with the text on iPhone, and on Android when the vehicle has no photo yet; we're fixing photo cards. Numbers that sit side by side stack, and status lines wrap rather than being cut short.
  • Screen readers. Every icon-only button has a spoken label for VoiceOver and TalkBack, including the help button on each screen. Manual suggestions are grouped with their title as the heading, and the buttons to keep or discard one say which manual they mean.
  • Not just color. Status is always written out, not only shown in color: "All caught up", "Oil change due in about 400 mi", "Registration expires Nov 14 · in 30 days".
  • Contrast. Text is designed for a contrast ratio of at least 4.5 to 1, and controls at least 3 to 1, in both the light and dark themes. We've checked every color pair the apps draw with; the one exception we know of is listed in section 4.
  • Light and dark themes that follow your phone, with a manual choice in Settings › Appearance.
  • Reduced motion. When Reduce Motion (iPhone) or Remove animations (Android) is on, movement such as the tab bar sliding in and messages sliding up becomes a fade.
  • Comfortable targets. Most buttons and controls are at least 44 by 44 points on iPhone and 48 by 48 dp on Android; a few text links and chips are smaller, and we're making them bigger.
  • No camera needed. Scanning a VIN, a door-jamb sticker, a paper or a receipt is a shortcut. You can type everything instead.
  • Feedback you can see. Haptic taps are never the only confirmation; a message confirms actions such as "Logged for the Outback."
  • The Glovebox works offline, from inside the app or a shortcut, and follows the same text size and screen reader settings as the rest of the app.
  • Native controls. The apps use the standard iOS and Android controls wherever possible, so they work with the assistive features you already use.

3. What the website is designed to support

  • Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator and a "Skip to content" link.
  • Pages use meaningful headings, landmarks and labeled form fields, so screen readers can navigate them.
  • Text can be resized to 200 percent without losing content.
  • Pages use a light theme and follow your reduced motion preference.
  • The home, manual, support and legal pages work without JavaScript.

4. What we've checked, and what still needs work

What we've checked: On October 2, 2026, we reviewed both apps' code against Apple's accessibility criteria for VoiceOver, Voice Control, larger text, dark mode, color, contrast and motion, and fixed what we found. We checked every color pair the apps draw with, in the light and dark themes. We checked larger text at the third accessibility size on iPhone and at 200 percent font size on Android, on the Garage, Due, Vehicle, Spec sheet, Parts and Manuals screens, in Apple's simulator and Google's emulator. We haven't yet walked every screen with VoiceOver and TalkBack on a phone, and we haven't run automated checks on carlore.app yet.

Known limitations:

  • We haven't yet finished a full, screen-by-screen review of the apps with VoiceOver and TalkBack. Until we have, a control may be unlabeled or hard to reach. If you find one, please tell us, and we'll fix it.
  • The apps don't change their colors when Increase Contrast is on.
  • On Android, the home screen widgets show "due soon" in an orange that falls below 4.5 to 1 in the light theme. We're fixing it; the same status is written out in the app.
  • On Android, links inside the user manual and the legal documents can't yet be reached with TalkBack; the same documents are on carlore.app.
  • Reading a VIN, a sticker, a paper or a receipt relies on the camera and on automatic text recognition, which can misread text. You can type every detail, and check or correct what Carlore read.
  • Paper images and receipt photos are pictures. Carlore shows the details it read from them as text, which you confirm, but the images themselves have no text alternative beyond what you enter.
  • Manuals are the publishers' own PDF files or web pages, and their accessibility is up to the publisher.
  • Our manual and legal documents are available in English only.

We'll update this list as we review and fix things.

5. Compatibility

The apps support iPhone with iOS 17 and later, and Android 9 and later. The website supports current versions of Safari, Chrome, Firefox and Edge.

6. Tell us what's not working

If anything in Carlore is hard to use, or you need information in a different format, please tell us:

  • in the app: Settings › Help › Contact us;
  • by email: support@carlore.app, with "Accessibility" in the subject;
  • by phone, if email doesn't work for you: +1 (312) 401-4626.

Please tell us what you were trying to do, which device and assistive technology you use, and what happened. We aim to reply within five business days.

7. About this statement

We prepared this statement in October 2026, from the design of the apps and website. It covers carlore.app and version 1.0 of the iPhone and Android apps. We'll review it before release, at least once a year after that, and whenever we make significant changes.
