The short version

Use Carlore to keep honest records of the vehicles you own or look after. Don't use it to deceive anyone, to track people, to break the law, or to break Carlore. A paper image in Carlore is a copy, never a legal document, a digital ID or proof of insurance.

1. Who this applies to

This policy is part of our Terms of Service. It applies to everyone who uses Carlore.

2. Papers and copies

Carlore keeps images of your papers, such as registrations, insurance cards, inspections and titles, so you have them at hand. Don't:

  • present a paper image or a copy from Carlore as the original, as a digital ID, as a driver's license or as proof of insurance, where the law or the person asking requires the real thing;
  • remove or hide the "Copy from Carlore · not a legal document" line on a shared copy to make it look official;
  • alter, forge or fabricate a paper, a receipt or a policy, or keep papers for a vehicle or a policy that isn't yours to keep; or
  • use Carlore to store or share someone else's papers without their permission.

3. Honest records, handovers and borrower guides

Handover packages and borrower guides are made on your phone and sent by you. When you make or send one, don't:

  • enter, change or share mileage, service history, receipts or costs you know to be false, especially to mislead a buyer (changing or misrepresenting a vehicle's mileage can be a federal and state crime);
  • present an entry you attest to yourself as one backed by a receipt, or edit a receipt image;
  • hide a known defect, an open recall or a title problem from a buyer by leaving it out on purpose, where the law requires you to disclose it;
  • include anyone else's personal information, papers or photos that you have no right to share; or
  • use a borrower guide to send anything unlawful, threatening, harassing or hateful.

4. Vehicles and people

Carlore is for vehicles you own, lease, look after or share in your household. Don't use it to:

  • record the VIN, plate or details of someone else's vehicle to track, locate, stalk or harass them;
  • compile information about people for anything other than your own personal and household records, such as marketing lists or decisions about someone's credit, employment, insurance or housing; or
  • run a business on it, such as a fleet, a dealership, a rental service or a repair shop, without our written agreement.

5. Manuals and other people's content

Manuals Carlore finds belong to their manufacturers or publishers. A manual you confirm is your personal copy, for your own vehicle. Don't redistribute it, sell it or publish it, except as its publisher allows. The same goes for anything else you didn't create, such as photos or text from other sites.

6. Support and communications

  • Treat our team with respect. We don't accept harassment, threats or abuse.
  • Don't send spam, false reports or malicious attachments.
  • Share only the information we need to help you. Please don't send us your VINs, papers or receipts unless they're needed to sort out the problem, and avoid sending other people's sensitive information.

7. Using the Service

Don't:

  • overload, disrupt or interfere with the Service, our servers or networks, or other people's use of them;
  • use Carlore to send automated or excessive requests to NHTSA or manufacturers' sites;
  • get around security measures, rate limits, plan limits or purchase verification, or make fraudulent purchases, refund claims or code redemptions;
  • scrape, crawl or access the Service by automated means, other than through our apps and website as intended;
  • create accounts automatically or in bulk, create accounts to get around a suspension or plan limit, or share or sell accounts or codes;
  • access or try to access anyone else's account or data;
  • decompile, disassemble or reverse engineer the apps, except to the extent the law expressly allows it, or as our security policy allows;
  • probe, scan or test the security of the Service except in line with our Security and Vulnerability Disclosure policy. Testing our admin console is never allowed without our written permission;
  • use Carlore in breach of privacy, consumer protection, export control or sanctions laws; or
  • use the Carlore name or logo in a way that suggests we endorse you, or that could confuse people.

8. Reporting a problem

Carlore doesn't host anything you make: handover packages, borrower guides and paper copies travel as files that people send each other. If you received one that you believe breaks this policy, or you see anything else on carlore.app or in the apps that does, email support@carlore.app with what you've seen. To report a security issue, write to security@carlore.app.

9. Copyright concerns

If you believe something on carlore.app or in the Carlore apps infringes your copyright, or that our list of manufacturers' manual sites points to something it shouldn't, write to Epicalin, LLC, Attn: Copyright, 1810 N Burning Bush Ln, Mount Prospect, Illinois 60056, United States; phone +1 (312) 401-4626; or email support@carlore.app with the subject "Copyright notice". Please include your contact details, the work you believe is infringed, where you found the material, and a statement that you're the owner or authorized to act for them. We'll look into it promptly and remove anything that shouldn't be there. Because Carlore hosts no content that people create or share, we haven't registered a designated agent under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act.

10. What we do

If we believe this policy has been broken, we may, depending on how serious it is:

  • warn you;
  • limit features, or suspend or close the account involved;
  • cancel codes, or Plus obtained through fraud; and
  • report unlawful activity to the authorities, and cooperate with lawful requests.

We act in proportion to the problem and, where it's reasonable and lawful, tell you what we did and why. We can't see your garage, and we don't monitor what you keep in it or send from it. If you think we got it wrong, reply to our message or write to support@carlore.app, and a person will review it.
